March 10, 2009 Sterling, VA - Advantage Media Technologies (AMT) announced today that it has been selected as technology partner for a new home that is unique in the Metropolitan Washington Area — and one of only a few like it in the country.

Under the leadership of GreenSpur, Inc. and West Group, the CharityWorks GreenHouse will soon debut as one of the first green designer show homes in the nation. Advantage Media Technologies has been chosen to provide a state-of-the-art smart home automation system for the carbon-neutral home, which is under construction in McLean, Virginia. As a result of AMT's solution, the owners will have a user-friendly view of their home's energy efficiency - which is going to be considerable, according to its designers.

In fact, the home's specifications call for the structure to use 80 percent less energy per square foot than a comparable new house, and to remove as much carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as it emits. For these and other reasons, the project is expected to exceed the highest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards for houses.

According to Washington Spaces magazine, the project's media sponsor, other energy-efficient elements include "a geothermal heating and cooling system, solar hot water system, radiant floors, a green roof, and sustainable landscaping, plus an inside-the-Beltway location close to public transportation," all of which will combine to lower carbon emissions, the leading source of greenhouse gases.
